Mile High Fun: A Weekend in Denver, Colorado

Barely a week after returning home from California

(check out the California trip article here) I

found myself in a car once again traveling out of

Kansas on another girls trip! For this trip I, along with my

friends Kristin and Abigail, made our way out to Denver, Colorado.

We ended up staying in Denver for only the weekend, but

we saw and did quite a bit while we were there and

definitely had some mile high fun!

.

The main reason this trip came about was so we could

go see one of Kristin’s current favorite singers Rex

Orange County who was playing at the Fillmore Auditorium

in Denver (the closest venue for us on his tour). None of us

had ever been to the Fillmore before, but even with almost

freezing to death in the cold while waiting for the doors to open

and having to endure a slightly claustrophobic stage floor

atmosphere we had such a fun time enjoying some great music!

Highly recommend you check Rex Orange County out!

My favorite songs of his are 10/10, Loving

is Easy, and Face to Face!

.

Our second day in Denver began with a trip to the

famous donut shop Voodoo Donuts. Similarly to Hurtz

Donuts here in Kansas, Voodoo Donuts offers a wide

variety of donuts with some very unique toppings including things

such as oreos, fruit loops, and M&Ms. We ended up buying

a dozen for the three of us thinking we would be able to

eat at least two or three a piece. However, while these

donuts were tasty, they were extremely filling

(and a complete sugar overload) and we were all barely

able to make it through one let alone three! We saved the

rest and snacked on them throughout the day, the drive

home, and also in the days following our trip.

(Yes, that is an oreo donut. And yes, it was as amazing as you would expect.)

.

Once we finished eating our donuts we walked across the

street to the Goodwill to do a little bit of thrifting

(gotta love some thrifty queens!) and then drove out

to Mount Falcon Park for a photoshoot.

After the photoshoot we headed out to the Red Rocks

Amphitheater to take a gander at this amazing outdoor

venue dreaming about the day we would be able

to attend a concert there!

With our stomachs howling in hunger we headed to

Idaho Springs, Colorado where we did a little shopping

and then met with Kristin's family for some delicious pizza

at Beau Jo's bringing an end to our night.

.

The next day we attended mass at Queen of Peace

Catholic Church and then drove the oh so boring

and long drive home to good ole Kansas.

.

What are some things you recommend doing in Denver?

Have you ever attended a concert/event at Red Rocks?

Have you been to any of the other places we visited on

this trip?
