Foodie Friday: Jim's Country Style Chicken - Salina, KS
Did someone say fried chicken?! Y'all know those are magic words I would never ignore
and at Jim's Country Style Chicken in Salina fried chicken is one of their specialties so I kidnapped Justin
and we made our way to this fried chicken haven with me grinning ear to ear out of pure excitement.

We walked into the restaurant and up to the counter where we saw behind the registers, up on the
wall, the restaurant's menu. After a few minutes of gauging our hunger levels we decided
for tonight we were going to do their 5 piece family dinner meal with sides of mashed potatoes and gravy and corn.

The meal also came with a basket of rolls which just kept my excitement for the food running high.

Oh, but we weren't done yet! When we had walked in through the door my pie spidey senses
began to tingle and I immediately saw stacked high on one end of the counter (and more inside
of a small refrigerator) slices of HOMEMADE PIE. I was 100% not walking out of there
without at least trying one slice and so I picked myself up a piece of the peach pie while
Justin got a slice of coconut cream.

Justin's Review: 9/10
.
Justin wasn't super impressed by the building/décor itself saying it was a just a little plain, but when
it came time to talk about the food he had nothing but good things to say. Overall, he thought the
food was pretty good and that he really liked their mashed potatoes and gravy. He also thought
that the pie was good and was quite surprised by how big of a piece he got. I about had to roll him out of there. lol

I do have to agree with Justin that the inside of the restaurant was a bit on the plain side where
a few updates here and there wouldn't hurt, but it was overall pretty clean so I really can't
complain too much. The lady who took our order at the counter and then brought our food
out to us later was very nice and the food was pretty much perfect. The chicken was moist (sorry lol) with crispy skin and wonderful seasonings, the corn was cooked just right, and those mashed potatoes. Y'all I am telling you those mashed potatoes were the best part of the whole meal and yes that is true even when including the pie and the fried chicken. (I know...sacrilege, but y'all I mean it. lol) I could have ate a whole bucket of them and been happier than a tornado in a trailer park. The pie was also delicious and Justin was right about you getting big slices. I had to take half of mine home for later! You could tell everything
was homemade and it just felt like a true homestyle meal. In fact, come to think of it, everything about this place just made it feel like a Sunday family dinner at grandma's. I would go back anytime.
