August 27th - A Special Day to Remember
Everyone has dates that, for some reason or another, are reverent to them. One of
these important dates for me and the date this article is revolving around is
August 27th. So what about this seemingly random day in August makes
it so special to me? Scroll on down to find out.
.
.
Let's take a little trip back in time to the year 1997. About 9am a baby boy with
a big ole head came SCREAMING into the world and his parents
decided to name him Adam.
.
.
Fun fact, he is the one who made me a big sister.
.
.
Growing up we did NOT get along. I can't even sugar coat it. We were constantly fighting
and there were definitely one or two bruises given and teeth punched
out over the years.
.
.
As we got older we stopped fighting…as much…and in
2013, when our world was flipped upside down, our relationship
changed forever.
.
.
We got closer to one another, actually started to get
along really well, and even wanted to spend time together. I don't know what
I would do without my little brother. He is one of the hardest working people
I know running on little to no sleep 99.9% of the time. I seriously do not know
how he does it. I have tried and failed miserably, but like the Energizer Bunny
he just keeps going and going and going.
.
.
He is kind and willing to do anything and go out of his way for those he cares about.
.
.
He is a straight. up. goofball, fun to be around, and it is no surprise he has so many friends.
.
.
Oh and he is an AMAZING doggy dad to his little Sadie!
.
.
Okay…I'm going to stop now because it is starting to feel like I am writing a
dating profile for him, but just know he is pretty dang great. Definitely my favorite not so little (the kid is like 6ft tall) little brother. ;)

.
Now let's fast forward to 2021. After escaping an abusive relationship I began renting
a 3 bed 2 bath house. I rented this house on my own, with no roommates, for
about a year before I decided I sadly wasn't going to be moving away any time
soon and, even though I was given an amazing rental deal, was just throwing
away money that could be being put toward owning a house instead. I asked
my landlord if he would be willing to sell the house to me and thankfully he
agreed. Then after many long long months and frustrating setbacks I finally
closed on the house on this day, August 27th, 2021!
.
.
A year later I have started many renovation projects trying to turn this house
into a home including creating a home gym (which I hope to be updating soon!)
.
.
redoing my garage (which still has a little work to be done), creating
a home office
.
.
and getting started on a walk-in closet.
.
.
I have so many projects I want to complete to really make this place feel like my
own little escape from the world and a place I actually want to come home to. I just
hope I can get them all finished here soon cause I really hate living in a reno state…it is
pure chaos! Lol I am so glad I decided to buy this house a year ago though.
Definitely no regrets.
.
The final thing that really makes this day special involves my furbabies. Ever since
moving out of my dad's house I had wanted a cat, but circumstances never
allowed for that to happen, until I bought my house. I drove straight from the realtor's
office after signing the papers for my house to the Humane Society where I have
volunteered for many years now and picked up 3 adorable little baby kittens.
.
.
A year later they are still crazy, demanding psychos who insist they are the ones that
actually own the place (and I can’t even argue. It is their world I am just living in it. lol). I
know that I would be completely lost without them. Nothing beats coming home to
the fluffs and cuddling with them and hearing their purrs instantly makes
me feel better no matter what is going on. They have saved me and I love them with all my heart.

So that is what makes August 27th a day to remember. I hope you enjoyed this little
glimpse into my life and learning about a day that is very special to me! Happy
first home ownership day to me, “gotcha day” to my adorable little babies, and
25th birthday to my brosky!!!
