Friday Eve Flashback: Saree Not Sorry
Happy Friday Eve everyone! I have recently been working on ways to try and improve
my blog and one of the ways I thought might be fun was to make it a little more
personal. This blog is an extension of myself and one of my favorite things after all and
plus I thought y'all might like to learn more about the woman behind the writings so I have
decided to add in this new weekly series where I share the answer to the question I get
asked A LOT "what have you been up to?" Hope you enjoy reading!
.
.
Alright so last week was definitely a crazy one. First let's start off with some cat news. If you
don't follow me on Instagram (@the_everydayadventurers) you might not know that one of my adorable
little floofs had to be taken in to the emergency vet. Little mister Figgy, (Well, actually not little.
According to the vet Fig is "one big cat" coming in at a honking 15 pounds)
was having some urinary issues including making little
messes around the house, peeing little to nothing when he did manage to go, and also
was just not being his normal annoying yet adorable little meowing self.
.
.
At first I thought he was just being a turd, but after a few hours it continued to get worse
and I was reminded of a cat we had at the shelter who had recently developed
a urinary blockage and had to be rushed to the vet for emergency surgery
(a urinary blockage in a cat can be fatal if not treated within 24 hours). Freaking
out I texted our shelter director Erin about the situation and she told me better
safe than sorry and to give the vet a call. So Sunday morning after I got out of church
I called up Dr. Mark at Heartland Vet, explained the situation, and he had me bring
Fig in. Fig was such a good little patient and it turned out that we had luckily caught it in time
before any blockage could develop. He diagnosed Fig with cystitis which had led to a bladder
infection all caused, most likely, by stress. *sigh* My poor little anxious baby. He
is his mama's cat. lol Figgy ended up staying the night at the vet's, was given some
antibiotics, and is now home safe and sound and back to being my wall scratching and
loud meowing alarm clock.
.
"MEEOOOOMMM! FOOD TIME!"
.
Things I learned as a cat mom from this experience:
.
-Urinary problems should not be ignored, especially in male cats. The vet said Fig was lucky.
.
-Time at the vet's can mess with a cat's scent and make other cats in your
home no longer recognize them, apparently even if they are siblings. Best to keep them
separated for a little while before re-introducing them to each other.
Bailey is still being a butt and hissing at Fig now over a week later. *sigh*

Last Friday I took the day off and drove up to Manhattan, Kansas for a rehearsal dinner
for one of my besties from high school, the beautiful Makenzie, where I wore a
traditional Indian saree for the first time! Makenzie has been living and working in India for
many years now and so for her rehearsal dinner she thought it would be cool to have
all the girls in her wedding wear a saree and it definitely was a fun and unique experience!
.
.
After the rehearsal dinner it was time to cowgirl up and head to Dirty Dawgs bar
in Aggieville for some swing dancing. Honestly I would be lying to you if I said I wasn't
extremely nervous to go because ya girl can NOT dance, but luckily I had some guys
teach me and I managed to make it through the night without stepping on a single foot. *phew* lol
Although I was called old by a college kid so, glad that is starting already. lol
.
After dancing for a couple hours we all left the bar and made our way, in the absolute
fah-reezing cold, to the Varsity Donuts food truck. Yet another first for me! I ordered
the grilled cheese mac and cheese and holy moses was that a delicious sandwich.
Imma need the recipe ASAP.
.
.
With our snack needs met this old lady's time living like a K-State college kid was sadly done and we
left the food truck and drove out to the Blue Vista Lodge where we would be spending the
night! I honestly had a lot more fun that evening than I thought I would and it kind of
made me wish I had gone to college at K-State. Then again there's just something
about Manhattan that has always made me feel that way. Annnnnd if anyone asks
me about that statement I will deny it. I have spent too
long hating on the wildcats to turn back now. lol
.
8am the next morning, April 1st, it was time to start getting ready for the big day, if we could
avoid being distracted by the beautiful views of Tuttle Creek from the lodge that is.
.
.
All 19 of us girls (Mak had 10 bridesmaids, 4 house party members, and
4 hawt helpers in her wedding) gathered together downstairs to start on our hair and makeup.
Then, right before starting a special wedding morning devotional, Makenzie gave all of us a little
surprise. She had brought with her nighties that she bought at a market in India
for all of us to wear while we finished getting ready! Just another unique Indian thing she managed to
incorporate into her wedding.
.
.
And then it was time to change into my official wedding outfit and get my girl married!
.
Isn't she just stunning?!
.
As far as I know the wedding went off without a hitch, including the choreographed entrance
dance we all had to learn, and Makenzie and Zac are living in married bliss!
.
.
Another fun thing I celebrated on Makenzie's wedding day, was my 4th anniversary writing
for this blog! Hard to believe it has already been 4 April Fool's days since my non-joking announcement
about one of the best adventures I could have ever started on and I cannot wait to see
where if goes from here. HUGE thank you to all of you who read and support my
blog. I couldn't do it without you!

Sunday was another long day, but in the best way possible. I went to church back in my hometown
of Pilsen, Kansas and then had a delicious lunch with my dad at the Santa Fe Trail Café. After lunch
I filmed a book club live discussion with Kelly (check it out here) and then I spent the rest of
my night with some of my favorite people of all time.

David took me to see their baby moos!

.
During this last week I have continued to give in to those deep cleaning urges and made it through room #3, the laundry room! It was quite the task, but worth the transformation!
You can check out the full video here!

.
And then finally with the weather starting to look a little more springy I got back to scraping
paint off my house (woo) and decided to let the little terrorists
come outside and enjoy the weather too. Granger was in 7th heaven and now loves to
try and dart out of any open door he can just to get back outside. lol
