Friday Eve Flashback: October 2023

I am so happy I live in a world with Octobers. October is by far my favorite

month and typically my busiest with so many spooky things to do and

this year was certainly no different! I hope you enjoy reading about

all the spooktastic things I did in October!

.

I started off October with a book club livestream with Kelly where we discussed

the book The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hugo, but really mainly just failed miserably

at trying to build spooky Halloween houses out of Poptarts. It was frustrating

yet fun and you can watch it all go down

(literally as our houses did NOT want to stay up) using this link:

.

.

October also of course means decorating for Halloween! This year my theme

was dark gothic so I did my best to try and turn my place into a creepy castle.

.

You can see all the decorating videos over on my YouTube channel

and more pics on my Instagram!

.

I just really loved how this looked.

.

You can see how I made this amazing fireplace cover here:

.

Fred was a big help with decorating this year.

.

Cass, Beau, and I had a craft day! We had a huge spread of spooky snacks and made these adorable ghost pillows!

.

.

I also had my first livestream with my channel members where we

watched the OG Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th! It was a little chaotic and I

have some learning to do on the technology end, but still a killer good time!

.

.

Of course no October is complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch and

this year I once again got to go for free thanks to my job! I brought along

my "family" of Cassidy, Beau, and Cooper and even though it was cold and windy we

had a blast trying out slides, new drinks and snacks, shooting some

hoops, and of course picking out pumpkins!

.

We HAD to try out their new apple cider shakes and apple cider donuts! Might have been a bit cold for an iced drink, but so so good!

.

Better luck next time Coop ;)

.

.

After a board meeting at Cat House McPherson

an absolutely amazing opportunity fell into my lap.....the chance to see

Matt Rife live with the girls! If you don't know who Matt Rife is, crawl out from under

your rock and look him up. He is hilarious and did a fantastic job!

I could have stayed there all night long!

.

Finally got to wear this dress that has been chilling in my closet for months. lol

.

Girls night!

.

Shout-out to this random guy who decided to take a pic with us. Lol

.

And our picture takers who decided to take a pic of themselves too! Lol

.

.

The day after Matt Rife was the annual Halloween party! This year it was

a masquerade theme and the first year Nicole and I were actually ready

for the party on time. lol It was a lot of fun and I am so happy to

finally be able to cross "Attend a masquerade" off of my bucket list.

Nicole and I!

.

A couple of days after the Halloween party I celebrated a birthday!

Another year closer to the big 3-0....

.

I made myself my own little spooky birthday cake.

.

.

I also did a little DIY-ing on my birthday making this cute little ghostie centerpiece.

.

This October I also got to do something else that I have been wanting to

do for YEARS and that was attend a live screening of one of my favorite

movies...The Rocky Horror Picture Show! It finally worked out for my friend

Drake and I to go and it was so. much. FUN! I loved having another

excuse to dress up and getting to have a very immersive movie watching experience.

Definitely going back next year!

I'm just a sweet transvestite.... lol

.

Iconic.

.

We of course had to buy prop bags to use throughout the movie!

.

My friend Drake and I!

.

The morning after my late night at Rocky Horror I got up early and

got my booty over to the underground salt museum, Strataca, for my first ever

5k as part of my 30 Before 30 Bucket List Challenge. The 5k was Halloween

themed and called the Monster Dash where costumes were encouraged so I decided

to dress up as a salt shaker (get it? cause it is at a SALT museum? lol). I just

narrowly escaped the deep dark depths with my life. lol

(You will be able to see a full video of my experience from training to

race day over on my YouTube channel if you are a channel member!)

.

The "costume" featuring Granger. Just a white tennis dress from Amazon with a felt S I cut out and taped on. lol

.

A light (and helmet) was required to do the run and I didn't understand why until I was running through the pitch dark with just my little headlamp guiding my way. Definitely spooky.

.

I did it! Everyone got a participation medal....which is good cause I wouldn't have placed otherwise. Lol

.

The day after my 5k my handsome hunk took me out for a belated birthday

dinner at Stearman's and then surprised me with a book shopping

trip to Barnes and Noble! He is the best. <3

.

One of these things is not like the other...lol

.

Finally, the last day of October. The best holiday of the whole year. HALLOWEEN. I

went to church (Catholic things lol), put a bowl of candy out on the porch, and

then got all comfy on my couch with a bowl of chicken noodle soup

and hot dogs, and Hocus Pocus on the TV.

.

This is what we would have at my Grandma's house every Halloween before going out trick or treating.
