Friday Eve Flashback: September 2024

September was quite busy, as the ‘ber typically are, but filled with some great firsts, delicious treats, and fun times. Hope you enjoy reading about my September!

.

To kick off the month over Labor Day weekend Kelly and I head on up to the small town of Kanopolis, Kansas to catch a double showing of Twister (one of my all time favorite movies) and Twisters (See Glen Powell on the big screen again? Say less!) at the drive in! It was so much fun and I am glad Kelly was able to go with me!

.

Twister movies weren't the only ones I was going to get to watch on the big screen in September! I also went with Cass and Justin to see the ne Beetlejuice movie! Of course I decided to dress up and convinced my amazing friends to twin with me! Unfortunately I failed and forgot to take a picture of all 3 of us together in our matching shirts, but we looked great!

Speaking of Beetlejuice (how many times have I said his name? 1, 2, *gulp* uh oh…..lol) Crumbl Cookies had a special cake made in honor of the new movie and of course Cass and I were NOT going to miss out on giving it a try. It definitely was a very rich little cake, even for a chocolate lover like myself, but man was it absolutely delicious. Although very very messy to eat on the road without silverware. lol

Another great moment of September was the start of Nebraska football! I FINALLY have live TV back so you won’t catch me missing ANY games. Excited to see where the season goes as the boys have actually been looking much better this year than in many many years past.

The one thing you could ALWAYS count on in our house when I was growing up was that on Nebraska game days BOTH the TV in the living room and the one in the kitchen would be turned to the game and Lil Red would be up cheering with us. This little "ritual" was so special to me and one I keep going now in my own home.

.

Another event in September was the grand re-opening of one of mine and Kelly’s favorite Indie bookstores, Twice Told Tales. This little bookstore got itself a new owner, making Kelly and I happy to see it remain open, so of course we HAD to go and celebrate the re-opening with some bookish shopping!

I just LOVED the way this little corner looked. A lot of changes were made inside the bookstore including having so many areas like this for people to stop in and stay awhile.

.

Oh and here is a shot of my haul. Well, what of it I can show you! I actually ended up picking up a lot of gifts for friends and can't risk spoiling any surprises!

.

Kelly and I also tried out some of Dairy Queen's fall blizzards after our book shopping. I'm telling you right now that I would marry the french silk pie blizzard if it was legal. Absolutely amazing.

.

As many of y’all probably know I have been training for a half marathon for a couple months now and September was a BIG month of achievements for me on that front. I managed to not only survive a 10 mile run, but also a 12 mile one! AND I managed to finish in under 2.5 hours which means my goal of finishing the half marathon (13.1 miles) in under 3 hours is 100% doable. I just can’t believe I went from not even being able to run a mile to now saying that.

A new hair color arrived on scene this month as well and to everyone’s surprise, after almost every color in the book, we have returned to my natural blonde hair. Figured it was time to give my hair a little break before it all started to fall out. She’s already thin enough. lol

Justin and I made a trip to the State Fair in September as well! We ate a ton of delicious food, went on Ye Ole Mill ride, and found out I have a slight fear of heights while riding the Sky Tram at night!

September also brought with it a Friday the 13th so of course I had to celebrate with some bloody cupcakes.

The annual Cattyshack golf tournament as usual took place on the third Saturday of the month. This year the theme was western!

I once again was on beer cart duty and this year I had Bobby riding along to help me out!

As soon as I finished up with Cattyshack Justin and I headed down to Oklahoma City to have some terrifyingly good fun at Fright Fest.

The day after Fright Fest we attempted to go to the Route 66 Hot Air Balloon, buuuut the weather had other plans so we hung out at this gas station called Pops for a couple hours, tried some interesting soda flavors, and then headed to what was left of the festival.

This soda bottle sculpture sits out front of the gas station and light up at night!

Look at the size of this smoothie!

On our way back home I convinced Justin to stop in Wichita at Insomnia Cookies to try out their latest Halloween cookie flavors.

In September I also experienced my first ever Trader Joe’s visit. It was such a fun experience, however I am not totally convinced on their food. lol

THE BABIES IN SEPTEMBER

She was upset cause I called her chonky.
