Illuminations at Botanica - A Magical Christmas Light Show (Wichita, KS)

As I mentioned in my Christmas bucket list article, one of my goals for this Christmas was

to see some Christmas lights. However, this year, since it is supposed to be my best

Christmas yet, I didn't want to just drive around my neighborhood looking at the lights. No, I wanted

to go to an actual light show. The one at Botanica in Wichita, KS has been at the top of my list for

awhile so I rounded up my friends and off we went to Wichita.

After following the winding road to the main parking area for Illuminations we parked the truck

and made the short walk in the cold to the entrance.

.

.

Brittany showed the attendant our

tickets and then we started our walk through the magical Christmas light park. I immediately

found myself having to stop walking and stare...until I saw two lighted tunnels

which I knew I just HAD to run through.

.

.

Not long after the tunnels and some dancing lights we stumbled upon this huge building offering

snacks, hot chocolate, a place out of the cold, AND a carousel. We practically ran inside

with Brittany, Alexis, and I all having the same goal: ride. that. carousel. lol We navigated

through the crowd to the other side of the building where Brittany bought us our

carousel tokens ($3 each) and then patiently waited our turn in line to ride one of the dizzying horses.

.

My first time on a carousel! Peep Easton in the background. lol

.

After us kids had our fun on the carousel (and Rhett and Tyler just watched)

.

.

we headed back out into the cold. From our higher vantage point by the carousel building Brittany

and I spotted some lights on the ground with a bunch of children jumping around on them. Now, normally

I would see a bunch of kids in an area and promptly avoid it, but tonight Brittany and I were one

of them and decided we were going to go have some fun on these lights as well! We were the

only adults out there that weren't holding the hands of one of the littles and I definitely ran

smack dab into a kid or two, but dang did I have some fun.

.

.

After the light lily pads we continued on through the rest of the park looking at the

lights and stopping only for some photo ops.

.

.

We even stopped to take a "family" pic with Santa!

.

.

Honestly I had more fun here at Botanica than I expected to and it is a light show

I HIGHLY recommend you go to either with the whole fam or even

just on a date! Just be sure to dress nice and warm. Merry Christmas!
