World's Largest Roadside Attractions | A Kansas Road Trip - The Everyday Roamers

I have been hinting for awhile about a little project I have been

working on and now the secret is out! As many of you know I LOVE

to travel, to research travel spots, and to talk about travelling so I, along

with my friend Justin, have decided to turn that love into something we

can all share together, a new YouTube channel that is all travel all the time!

So say hello to the newest addition to the The Everyday Adventurers family, The Everyday Roamers!

.

.

Now on to the first adventure!

.

For the first official trip of The Everyday Roamers channel, Justin and

I decided to head out to western Kansas to see some weird, wonderful, and whopping roadside attractions. First stop was the Czech capital of Kansas, Wilson, where

you can find the WORLD's largest Czech egg. Standing at 20 feet tall

and 15 feet wide this behemoth, designed by Christine Slechta, is definitely

an interesting sight to see that really helps bring the town's Czech heritage to life.

.

.

Next we headed on down Wilson's main street to eat at

Made From Scratch, a restaurant known for having some of the

best pie around, which of course was my reason for picking it as our lunch stop.

This roadside attraction was entirely hand built from concrete

by Civil War vet S.P. Dinsmoor who started the project in 1904 at

age 64! Each sculpture portrays his views on religion, war, and

humankind and each is certainly unique. Perfect stop if you are looking

for something both impressive and a little off the wall.

.

.

After the Garden of Eden we dove into Lucas' art scene visiting

the award winning bathroom at Bowl Plaza, and the Grassroots Art Center next door.

And we had to pose with the bear out front of course. lol

.

.

Our final stop in Lucas was at the World's Largest

souvenir plate. Made from fiberglass satellites the largest of

which is 14 ft in diameter this plate showcases the wonders

of Lucas and is pretty neat to see!

.

.

Next on our journey we travelled to another small town about 50

minutes from Lucas, Victoria, Kansas. Here in Victoria you can

find one of the 8 wonders of Kansas, the

Cathedral of the Plains, St. Fidelis Church. We decided to hang around and

attend a mass here as part of our visit, but of course you don't

have to in order to really get the full feel of the beauty this church offers.

.

.

After mass we started making our way back towards home, but stopped

in Wilson first to eat dinner at The Midland Railroad Hotel. We chose The Barn. since it

sounded like they had BBQ available, but we quickly found out they

were mainly just a social club. I would say if you are looking for a place

to hang out, drink some beers, and maybe even dance/party a little, then

this is a great place, but definitely not a good dinner spot.
