Wearing a Different Outfit Everyday For a Year

I just recently moved into a new house, and if moving taught me

anything, it is that I, Amy Makovec, am a survivor... a survivor of a

shopping addiction. Man, it feels really good to get that off my chest.

After years of being told I needed to change my ways, this move has

opened my eyes allowing me to see the truth and admit that I have

a problem. I have an addiction to buying clothes. Allow me to

show you the evidence…..

(This isn’t even all of my clothes!)

Needless to say...the proof is in the pudding...or in this case, the

backseat of my car. I was legitimately shocked when I saw the

neverending amount of clothes that were quickly filling up the

backseat and so I sent the same picture featured above to my friend

Scott. His response? “Wow. You have a very big problem…..Do you

have a different outfit for everyday of the quarter?” And that was when the

idea hit me. Did I really have enough clothes to wear a different outfit every

day for a quarter of the year, or maybe even for a whole year? Looking at the

mountain of clothes I figured it was definitely a possibility. So I pitched the

idea to my blog team and here we are one week into the challenge!

..................................................................

The Rules:

1.) I am not allowed to buy ANY new clothes. However, there are three exceptions to this rule

a.) Purchase of concert t-shirts is allowed

b.) Staple items may be replaced if they become lost or damaged

c.) For special events such as costume parties I must first try to find something

in my closet that will work, but if I cannot find anything I am allowed

to buy something new.

2.) Each outfit can only be worn once! No repeats!

.......................................................

Week One:

Day 1:

My day 1 outfit was centered around this Time and Tru floral kimono

which was a piece that I hadn’t had the opportunity to wear yet! I paired

it with a rose colored short sleeve crop tee from American eagle, dark

wash No Boundaries skinny jeans, and tan lace up boots. For accessories

I wore a simple gold necklace, gold beaded bracelets from Riah

Fashion, and a tan and gold watch.

......................................................................

Day 2:

For this day I paired this light gray Abercrombie & Fitch

boyfriend v-neck tee with my sage green Sofia skinny jeans and cognac

booties from Old Navy. For accessories I wore a

cognac belt, the tan and gold watch from day 1, a gold prism

necklace, and the gold Riah fashion bracelets also from day 1.

.............................................................

Day 3:

This outfit featured an item that pushed me out of my

fashion comfort zone….white pants! Not only am I a complete

klutz who should not be trusted with anything white, I have always struggled

to find white pants that are not see through! However,

these Universal Thread skinny jeans from Target check all the

right boxes! I paired the jeans with this “Take More Detours” graphic tee

from Target’s Zoe + Liv line and my Old Navy cognac booties.

.............................................................

Day 4:

My day 4 outfit was a little fancier than the rest of the outfits

for the week because this day was Father’s Day! This was the first

time I had worn this Soprano floral dress from Marshalls which I

paired with my black a new day block heels from Target and

a silver diamond cross necklace.

...........................................................

Day 5:

My day 5 outfit was centered on my Justin cowboy boots because

of a lovely Kansas rainstorm that decided to hit on this day! In

addition to my cowboy boots I wore a pair of medium wash Levi

bootcut jeans and a graphic tee that I found at Five Below

which reads “We have nothing to lose & a world to see.” Extremely

simple and comfortable for a rainy day at work!

..........................................................

Day 6:

This outfit featured my absolute favorite jacket in my entire collection,

the Killing Joke bomber jacket from BlackMilk. I absolutely love

the uniqueness of this jacket and it always gets me a ton of compliments so

I will typically find any excuse I can to wear it! I wanted the jacket

to be the center of attention so I kept the rest of the outfit

pretty low key with a black Faded Glory scoop neck tank top, high waisted

American Eagle skinny jeans, and black Old Navy booties. The accessories

were also kept at a minimum with a small silver triangle necklace and a

longer silver angel wing necklace.

..................................................

Day 7:

For the final day of my first week of this challenge I wanted something

comfy and cute so I wore my olive green Aerie camp shorts

(these are honestly the comfiest pair of shorts I own! I absolutely love them!),

black little mermaid graphic tee, and black flip flops. It was the perfect

outfit for a day spent lounging at home!

Favorite outfits of the week?

Days 2 and 6!

Even though day 2 pushed me a little outside of my fashion

comfort zone with the tucked in shirt, I absolutely love the way

this outfit turned out! I felt very confident in it and it looked put

together without requiring a lot of effort!

.........................................

I chose day 6 as a favorite

outfit simply for the Killing Joke jacket. I always feel extremely badass

whenever I wear this jacket so of course I had to pick it as a

favorite for the week as well!
