Foodie Friday: Main Street Deli - McPherson, Kansas

*Update: This restaurant is now closed.*

I have been going to Main Street Deli for years now. In fact it was the official

meeting place for my book club back in the day and whenever I had a food bet

I always made sure the loser was going to be giving me pie from there. Now, it's

their turn in the hot seat for this Foodie Friday review!

Inside you will not only find food, but also a little store with some absolutely adorable pieces.

.

Main Street Deli is a little different than most restaurants because you walk

in the door and place your order right there at the counter. Once you are done

and you pay they will hand you a little chalkboard with the name of a

famous person on it for you to bring to your table. This is how they keep track of

who's food goes where. Very neat idea!

.

For this food review I decided I didn't want to stick around and eat at the

restaurant (mainly because I had actually just been there not too long ago) and

got all of my food to go. One thing I have found with them is that if you are

wanting a to-go order call ahead....ESPECIALLY if it is lunchtime.

Otherwise you might be stuck waiting for a while. It's definitely a popular spot!

.

Once I got back home I dug into my food. I ended up ordering 3 separate (half)

sandwiches. 2 that were new to me and of course my go to order. Each sandwich

came with my choice of chips (or you can also get soup) and a pickle.

.

First up we have the Italian.

I was super excited to try this sandwich. The bread looked perfect and I mean just

look at that cross section. Unfortunately

I found the sandwich to be pretty dry. It did have some

sauce on it, a vinegrette of some sort I believe, buuuut it wasn't enough for me. :( Then

again keep in mind I am an extra mayo on her sandwich type of girl

so this might just be on me. lol

.

Next up we have the Old Town BBQ.

Fun fact about me is that I LOVE BBQ and I was surprised and excited to see

this sandwich on their menu. Not super happy about the red onions and

jalapeños buuuut I decided to give the sandwich a go the way it was built.

Surprisingly I liked all of it together and found the sandwich to be pretty dang

good. The amount of sauce was perfect and if you are someone who likes some heat

this sandwich did have a nice little kick to it. Definitely recommend it!

.

Finally we have my go to order, the Club on wheat.

Looking at the cross section this sandwich might not seem like much, but I am

telling you right now this is the best sandwich on the menu. I get this

sandwich every single time I go and I have never once been disappointed.

Everything about it is perfect.

.

And of course I CANNOT go to Main Street Deli without getting a piece of the absolute best thing on their menu, their pie. 🤤😍❤

Here's a look at their menu!

Main Street Deli will continue to be one of my favorite places to eat and recommend

in McPherson and I definitely plan on returning again.
