Foodie Friday: Blue Skye Brewery and Eats - Salina, KS

This week’s Foodie Friday restaurant was kind of a spur of the moment

pick after our initial restaurant wasn’t going to fly for a lovely meatless

Friday in Lent! Hope you enjoy reading about this brewery!

Easy to find this brewery is located on Salina’s “downtown” street. Even though it was a Friday night Justin

and I were able to park almost right in front of the brewery and walked

inside the building which is much bigger on the inside than it appears.

.

It is seat yourself so I grabbed us a two person table right inside the

door. (In hindsight this was probably not the best idea because it was

cold outside and every time the door opened we were hit with a blast of cold

air, but I was too chicken to walk in further and look for another table. lol)

.

.

Our waitress arrived at our table really quickly and took our drink

orders. I, of course, had water (I know, who goes to a brewery and

doesn’t drink?! Lol) and Justin ordered their Fire Engine Red brew.

.

.

We perused the menu looking over their meatless options (which

they actually had a decent amount of) and after our waitress

returned with our drinks we put in our orders.

.

We decided we wanted to start with an appetizer of cheesy pizza sticks.

.

.

Overall, I thought the pizza sticks were good, but I think they could

have used more sauce. They do come with a side of marinara for

dipping, but I think putting sauce on the sticks also would really

take them to the next level.

.

For our main dishes Justin ordered the full order of fish and chips

and we were both quite surprised by the size of the meal

when it came out. You definitely get your money’s worth of fish!

.

.

Justin also ordered another one of their beers, this time the Jalapeno

Cream Ale. He said he liked the Fire Engine one a lot better though. Lol

.

.

I ordered the Mac N Cheese burger with a black bean burger rather

than the normal ⅓ lb burger. My only complaint with my burger is

that I wish the mac n cheese was a little cheesier.

.

.

In the end both Justin and I agreed the food was good with him giving it an 8/10 overall.

However, I have to say their fries were straight AMAZING. 11/10. They were like if you

took McDonald’s salty seasoning and put that on Burger King’s fries.

Oh, I could eat just those for every meal. 🤤

Food: 6/10

Cleanliness/Decor: 8/10

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 8/10

.

The service at Blue Skye was excellent. Our waitress was extremely attentive and we hardly

had to wait at all for her to come take our orders or bring our food out. I also really

liked the atmosphere inside. It just felt like a good place to go with friends

and I think it would be fun on a game day! The food I think could use

just a little bit more flavor, but I definitely want to go back when I can

have something with meat in it to really be a better judge. Overall, good job Blue Skye and I will be seeing you again!
