Foodie Friday: Coop's Pizzeria - Salina, KS

Guuuyyysssss…guess who’s back-back-back, back again-gain-gain….Justin’s

back-back-back….tell a friend-friend-friend. lol Yes you read that right folks! After

a couple Justin-less weeks he is back for this Foodie Friday in which we

headed to Salina, KS for what we hoped would be some comfort food in the

form of a piping hot pizza pie and nice cold alcohol. Our pizza place of

choice? A little building on the northeast side of town called Coop’s

Pizzeria. Scroll on down to see what we thought!

We pulled into the empty parking lot of the restaurant and I have

to admit, to me the place looked a little sketch. If I didn’t already know

it was a restaurant I wouldn’t have guessed it or I would have thought

they were closed, but we walked on in.

.

The inside of the restaurant, like the parking lot, was empty and one of

the ladies working there told us we could pick any table we liked so I chose a

4 person one near the middle of the restaurant. (I got the feeling a lot of their

business comes from take out orders.) They took our drink orders right away and

then Justin and I began perusing the menu.

.

.

We decided that instead of going with the special for the day (which I believe

was $1 off calzones and $2 off of pasta) we were going to make our own

pizza to share. We went with the 14-inch monster pizza topped

with Italian sausage and bacon

.

.

and were enticed into getting an order of garlic breadsticks

.

.

and an order of cinnamon sticks.

.

.

We chatted about vacations, life, ate till we were full, and

then stuffed the leftovers in a box and went on home.

.

Justin’s Rating: 6/10

.

Starting off with design Justin said the décor

on the inside wasn’t bad, but the wooden plank ceiling with beams rotated

in different directions really threw him off saying it was just an odd choice

for a ceiling. The pizza itself was also a disappointment to Justin who said

he could have gone to Pizza Hut and had better pizza, but thought the

cinnamon breadsticks were good and good enough to bring up the overall rating.

Coop’s Pizzeria Stats

Service : 4/5

Food: 3/5

Cleanliness/Decor: 3/5

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 3.3/ 5

Unlike Justin I personally didn’t notice the ceiling inside the restaurant and

simply thought the inside looked nice and like any typical pizzeria. The service

here was pretty good and everyone was extremely friendly. Both the ladies

working there and waiting on us were so chill and conversational it almost

felt like you were just chilling at a friend’s house. Now, if we ended the

review there things would probably look alright, but unfortunately I still have to

talk about the pizza. With my first look at the pizza itself I couldn’t help but think

of how similar it looked to a cheap Tony’s level frozen pizza and after taking a

bite that comparison was only heightened. The main saving grace for the food

stat was, just like Justin, the breadsticks. The garlic ones were absolutely perfect

as were the cinnamon breadsticks which tasted so much like butter cinnamon

toast they literally took me BACK to my kid days. I don’t think I will ever go back

to Coop’s for the pizza, but it wouldn’t take much persuading for me to go

back for those cinnamon breadsticks.
