Crammed together in Rhett's truck, Rhett, Brittany, Easton, our newest group addition

AJ, and I found Las Catrinas tucked away behind a couple of strip malls on the west

side of Wichita. After finally finding a parking spot in their full parking lot we walked

inside and met Tyler who was waiting on us and our table.

.

After waiting about 45 minutes we were brought to a table and got right to work looking at the menu.

.

.

We were all pretty hungry at that point so in addition to the chips and salsa we also

ordered a couple bowls of queso, some bacon wrapped shrimp,

.

.

and jalepeño poppers.

.

This picture doesn't do their size justice. They were HUGE.

.

With our appetizers gone it was time to start on our main dishes. Tyler ordered the burrito especial

.

.

Brittany ordered a shrimp burger. (Yes a SHRIMP burger.)

.

.

Easton ordered a grilled cheese

.

.

Rhett ordered the La Catrina meal

.

.

AJ ordered the chipotle pasta

.

.

and finally I went with my tried and true dish, a classic ground beef chimichanga.

The Crew Reviews:

.

AJ: 10/10

"It was really good and wasn't spicy. The sauce really complimented everything great."

.

Tyler: 7/10

"The chicken was overcooked and chewy, but good."

.

Easton: 1000/10

Still haven't found a grilled cheese this kid doesn't like. lol

.

Brittany: 9/10

"I'm not a big fan of Mexican food going in to this but those bacon wrapped shrimp were

amazing. I could definitely eat a whole plate to myself! The shrimp burger I was worried about

but took a bite and there was a fiesta in my mouth. It had spices, but controlled them with hints

of pineapple which made it even better!!! My rating is 9/10 points solely due the wait time to

get to our seats. Other than that our waitress was great and food came out in a timely manner.

Definitely will go back and would introduce other people to it as well!"

.

Rhett: 7/10

Rhett said that while he has had better Mexican food he thought it was all good and flavorful.

Las Catrinas Final Stats:

Service: 4/5

Food: 4/5

Cleanliness/Décor: 4/5

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 4/5

The only negative I could think of for this Foodie Friday was one that was out of the restaurant's

control, the long wait time. I guess that is what we should expect in a bigger city on a Friday night!

Our waitress for the night was pretty good staying on top of drinks and making sure everything came

out the way it should while also being friendly. I liked the decor of the place especially the skull in

the logo. The food was also pretty dang good although I do have to give a spice warning. Every food I

tried (including the queso) had a bit of a kick to it so if you are like me and cannot handle a lot of

spice just be prepared! Like Brittany said this is a place I would definitely go back to and

recommend you try out as well.
