Foodie Friday: Lambert's Cafe - Ozark, Missouri

A restaurant that gives you all you can eat rolls...as long as you can catch them. Right off the

highway sits the HUGE Lambert's Cafe where their tagline "Home of Throwed Rolls" is no lie.

Lambert's is a stop my family MUST make during every visit to Branson and it is one of my favorite

traditions. I mean come on....anywhere that gives you all you can catch rolls

is already a winner in my book. lol Scroll on down to read how our most recent visit to this restaurant went.

History on Lambert's

.

Before I get into our personal dining experience I want to do something I don't normally do for

my Foodie Friday places and provide a little history on how Lambert's became famously

known as the "Home of the Throwed Rolls."

.

The original Lambert's opened in 1942 in Sikeston, MO. From the beginning rolls were all you can

eat and were passed out by a server. However, in 1976 during a particularly busy night at the

restaurant Norman Lambert (son of the original founders) got stuck in the large crowd and was unable to

make it to the tables. A customer hangry for rolls (I would be the same way) saw he was stuck and decided

to yell out to him saying "Throw the damn thing!" From that moment on rolls could be seen flying

through the air towards hungry customers.

Now on to our eating experience!

.

We pulled up to Lambert's a little before the huge lunch rush and were able to get seated

right away in one of their wooden benches where we could start looking over their menu.

.

.

When it came time to order Aunt Marissa went with the chicken wings with sides of cottage cheese and a baked potato.

.

.

Uncle Gail chose center cut ham steak with mashed potatoes and corn.

.

,

Jet chose the hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw.

.

.

My dad also ordered the center cut ham steak, but with sides of cottage cheese and peaches.

.

.

and finally I ordered the chicken strips with mashed potatoes and corn.

.

.

While we were eating our main course we had servers also going around with different "pass arounds" such

as fried okra, fried potatoes & onions, black eyed

peas (which we each had to have for good luck in the new year!), and more!

.

Fried Okra

.

They also have things you can purchase to take home with you including their famous rolls, mugs, and hub caps aka cinnamon rolls.

Lambert's Final Stats

Service: 5/5

Food: 4/5

Cleanliness/Décor: 4/5

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 4.3/5

.

I love the style of Lambert's where almost everything is like a huge family dinner buffet and the throwed

rolls is something that is fun for the whole family. The servers were friendly and they did a great job

making sure we had everything we needed/wanted. Oh and their roll throwers were so good!

The accuracy to hit customers from across the restaurant and through all the flags hanging

from the ceiling was crazy fun to see. The food is largely southern themed and everyone at the

table reached the consensus that it is pretty daggum good. lol This is definitely a place I will be

coming back to if nothing else for just the rolls. lol
