Foodie Friday: La Isla - Herington, Kansas

After our plans for visiting The Pin Up Cafe at the bowling alley were dashed due to

it being randomly closed, Adam, Tom, Nick, and I decided to instead head across

the street to La Isla for our dinner date. Scroll on down

to see what we thought of the place!

We walked in with me causing quite the ruckus after I threw open the inner door

unaware that there was a large set of metal windchimes hanging on it (I feel like

that is a really odd place for windchimes but okay. lol) and were led through the

restaurant to a corner table with walls on almost every side. The boys weren't

super huge fans of our table being like its own little room, but I personally

liked the seclusion/privacy it provided.

.

Our waiter eventually came over to get our drink orders, all three of the boys getting

beers of course, and then after giving us some time to peruse their LARGE

menu returned for our food choices.

.

.

Tom ended up ordering off their lunch menu going with the #14 which is

beef chunks topped with red sauce served with rice and beans.

.

.

Adam ordered Fajitas Texanas

.

.

Nick ordered the Monterrey

.

.

And finally I ordered the Enchiladas Veracruz.

Crew Reviews:

Tom

"It wasn't sh*t."

Adam - 4.5/10

"Food was good. Service was sh*t for us being the only ones in there."

.

Nick: 6.531/10

"Food was good. Service was sh*t especially since we were the only ones there."

.

(I swear I got Adam and Nick's reviews separately. I guess the boys just think alike. lol)

Walking in nearly breaking the door with the wind-chimes really seemed to set the

overall tone of our experience at this restaurant. lol While the amazing bright colors

on the walls and the plants gracing corners did their best to create a happy

atmosphere we unfortunately walked out of this restaurant feeling less than positive which

was mainly due to the service, or lack there of. We were the only patrons in the restaurant

for the majority of our visit here, however the only times we saw our waiter was to

eventually put in our orders and then when it was time to bring our food out to us. The

rest of the night La Isla felt pretty deserted. The food was good although nothing

mind blowing in my opinion. In fact, I sadly might have to say it was a little on the bland

side and I ended up having to add even more cheese sauce on top my three little enchiladas.

However, one thing I can say that was not bland was the salsa. Heads up heat avoiders

because this salsa does in fact have a slight kick to it which EVERYONE AT THE TABLE

SAID SO IT ISN'T JUST MY WEAK-UNABLE-TO-HANDLE-HEAT SELF TALKING. lol
