Foodie Friday: Smokin' Wille's BBQ - Wamego, Kansas

Well you know what they say, when in....Wamego? lol This last 4th of July I

brought Nick along with me to experience the famous 4th of July

festivities and fireworks show in the small town of Wamego, Kansas.

While we were there I of course knew we had to try out one of the places

off of my Foodie Friday list and eventually we found one that

was open, the food truck Smokin' Wille's BBQ.

Scroll on down to read about our experience!

We strolled up to a white lean-to on the end of main street and joined

the long line of hungry visitors looking for a delicious filling meal on this

unreasonably hot Kansas day. With the holiday, Smokin' Wille's had a

special 4th of July menu for us to order from and for me, per usual, it was

quite difficult to decide what I wanted to eat.

.

.

After a lot of back and forth I decided to forgo the BBQ parfait I ALWAYS

get at places like the Kansas State Fair and went with the classic pulled pork

sandwich meal with sides of mac and cheese and Doritos.

(Apparently cannot get enough cheese in my life. lol)

.

.

Nick went with the delicious sounding pork nachos for his lunch.

Nicks review: 7.5/10

.

"Pulled pork was a little bland. Maybe when it isn't 4th of July

it might be better? However, it was still pulled pork so it's

hard to mess that up, but it could have had more flavor to it."

I don't know if it was the 4th of July decorations or just eating there on

the holiday, but Smokin' Wille's has a real All-American vibe to it.

To me the outdoor eating atmosphere they created with the wooden

picnic tables and metal lean-tos felt small town USA in the best way

possible. The service was also great with a super nice young man at the

window taking orders and they had a fairly quick food turnout. Now, while

Nick might have been slightly disappointed in his food, mine was delicious.

Topped with BBQ sauce my pulled pork sandwich was just the messy, yet

tasty, BBQ experience I was expecting and the mac and cheese was

some ooey gooey cheesy goodness. Definitely a place I would return to

AND if you are needing a place to cater your next event they have you covered.
