Foodie Friday: The Prickly Pear Grill & Cantina - Salina, Kansas

For weeks my Instagram has been sending post after post to my feed

featuring someone somewhere making Birria tacos and y'all I was craving

them so hard that I was two seconds away from trying to make them myself.

However, while searching for a place to eat at before the Josh Turner

concert at the Stiefel Theatre, I noticed on the menu for The Prickly Pear the

dish that has been haunting me day in and day out and I knew immediately

that was where we were going to go. Scroll on down to see what we thought!

We walked into the packed restaurant somehow managing

to be seated at a table by the window right away.

.

It wasn't long before our waitress was at our table handing us our menus

and since we were running on a tight schedule before the concert

we decided to put in our orders right away.

.

.

Nick, after some back and forth, decided on the smothered chimichanga

.

.

and I, knowing exactly what I wanted, went with the Classic Queso Birria tacos of course.

.

.

We also made sure to put in an order of the fried taquitos

for an appetizer cause ya girl can't say no to taquitos. lol

Nick's rating: 10/10

"It was really good. Decently priced. Quick service."

Y'all. Y'ALL. Before we had even finished eating our food I knew this place

was going to be receiving a perfect score. The atmosphere and décor of the

place makes it feel like some trendy restaurant you would go to in like

Utah or Arizona. Just somewhere far away from Kansas and that definitely adds

to the reasons why I loved it since I miss my southwestern states so so badly.

The service was great even though the place

was packed and our food came out FAST. I even remember saying

"Wow. That was fast!" lol Oh and speaking of the food. Everything was

PERFECT. Hands down the best taquitos I have ever had. Could easily

eat those little golden brown wonders every single day and the Birria tacos

definitely conquered the craving I have been having with the cheese inside stringy

and the sauce having a nice little flavor punch. Even reheated (cause we did

have some leftovers) it was delicious. This might just be my favorite Foodie

Friday place to date or at least is for sure in the top three. If you haven't been

you definitely NEED to go.
