Foodie Friday: Oak and Pie - Wichita, Kansas

Apparently Foodie Friday is turning into Pizza Friday with yet another pizza place

under review for this week. Oak and Pie is a restaurant on my favorite side of

Wichita that I have driven past multiple times and have ALWAYS wanted to

stop in to try. So when I found myself in Wichita for the drone light festival with some of the

most adorable dinner dates it seemed like the perfect time to finally give

it a shot. Scroll on down to see if it was worth the wait!

Little Beau led Cassidy, Nick, and I into Oak and Pie where we were given a

booth right near the bar.

.

.

Our server got our drink orders immediately

(we all decided to be boring with no alcoholic drink orders)

and then it was time for us STARVING patrons to order up some grub.

.

.

We decided on the garlic cheese bread for an appetizer.

.

.

The Lil' Wing (a buffalo chicken bacon ranch pizza)

.

.

and Pie baby (another chicken bacon ranch style) were our

chosen pizzas for the main event.

.

.

We also made sure to order dessert, because that is a rule, and went

with the chippy cookie. A salted caramel cookie topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

Crew Reviews:

.

Nick: 7.37/ 10

"It's pizza." Yet another on brand review from Nick. SMH. lol

.

Cassidy:

"Food was split. I loved everything but the buffalo pizza. It was underwhelming

and that one got a 2/10, but everything else was 10/10! Service was slow and

I felt like he ignored us at times. Especially when we could have used more

sauce, or drink, or even napkins. 🤣 Loved the atmosphere though."

So was Oak and Pie worth the wait? Sadly I'm going to have to say...

it's a no from me dawg. I absolutely loved the style of the restaurant. All the

design aspects inside were gorgeous and made it feel like a really cool, hip place.

I also think the servers/workers were suuuper nice, but I do agree with Cassidy that

our server for the day could have stopped by to check on us a little bit more.

I also really liked their kids menu. It came with a sticker sheet so you could put

toppings on your own little pizza found on the back of menu. Definitely

could keep some kids entertained for a little bit at least! lol

Unfortunately, the pizza was the disappointment of the day. Maybe I had hyped

it up too much in my mind, but neither of our pizzas, or the garlic cheese

bread, had the flavor punch I was really expecting or wanting. They looked

mouth-wateringly amazing, but just lacked that wow, that magic, that

eye-closing "mmmm" I was really hoping for. Even the buffalo chicken pizza

somehow managed to be pretty mild without a hint of the kick you would

expect from something with buffalo sauce. I would probably return if someone

else really wanted to go, but if I am in the mood for brick oven

pizza I will be opting for Back Alley.
