How to Celebrate Valentine's Day Single
.
Being single can certainly be tough at times, especially around Valentine’s
Day. However, instead of moping around at home or throwing things at
all the couples you see, spend this Valentine’s Day celebrating the
most important Valentine….YOU!
.
.
Buy Yourself Something Nice
.
Is there something you have been wanting for a while now, but just haven’t
found a good enough excuse to buy it? Well here is your excuse! Use that
money you are saving by not going out on a pricey Valentine's Day
date and TREAT YO SELF!
.
Read!
.
Book boyfriends are better anyway! This is most likely how I will be
spending the majority of my Valentine’s Day evening.
(My current read: Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley)
You could also use this time to read some self care books. Some popular
ones include Atomic Habits by James Clear and Single on Purpose by John Kim.
.
Movie/TV Show Marathon
.
One of the best things about being single is that you never have to compromise
on what to watch. Create a lineup of your favorite movies, rewatch your
favorite show for the umpteenth time, or start a new show that everyone
has been talking about (You can find some great show recs in these articles
featuring Netlfix trending shows: Netflix Trending 1Netflix Trending 2). Throw on your
sweats, grab your favorite movie snacks, and binge to your heart’s content judgement free.
.
You can also put a twist on your marathon by creating a theme like best rom-coms of
all time (check out a list of my favorite rom coms here), movies starring your celebrity crush, or
best stand-up specials! (After all laughter is said to be the best medicine. I highly
recommend you check out Taylor Tomlinson’s
Quarter Life Crisis. It had me rolling!)
.
.
Spa/Self Care Day
.
When you look good, you are going to feel good so go get that haircut or
dye your hair like you have been wanting. (I finally did and boy am I sooo
happy with my decision! See my latest hair transformation here) Finally release all that stress and tension with a
body massage. Get a facial and renew those chewed on nails with a mani/pedi. Treat
yourself to an entire day of relaxation and reclaim that confidence cause you deserve it!
Not wanting to spend a lot of money or go out? Bring the spa to you! Here are
some of my top choices (all things that can be found at Walmart or Target) for your at home spa day.
Just do whatever makes you happy and makes you feel good about yourself!
.
.
Organize/Clean
.
This year you could use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to get your
home organized! Part of self love is all about getting rid of things cluttering up
our lives so why not get rid of things that are literally cluttering up your life! Go
through your closet and donate clothes you don’t wear anymore, organize your
desk/office space, or, if you are feeling super ambitious, take on your pantry!
.
FOOD
.
Treat yourself to your favorite meal! Whether that means going out to your favorite
restaurant or cooking it up in the kitchen, you deserve it! (I have been craving chicken
and noodles over mashed potatoes so that is what I will be making for myself!) Oh and
the best part? You won’t be judged by how much you eat and YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHARE!
.
.
Spend Time with Your Best Girlfriends
.
The day before Valentine’s Day is Galentine’s Day. A day of ladies
celebrating ladies. A day to celebrate the galentine’s that are there for
you every day of the year. So grab your best girlfriends and spend the
day or even the whole weekend together!
.
.
Volunteer
.
On Valentine’s Day especially it may feel like being single is the end of
the world. However, instead of sitting at home alone moping, bring your time and
talents to a local soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or even an animal shelter and remind yourself that there
are worse things in the world than being single.
.
Stay OFF Social Media
.
The last thing you need on Valentine’s Day when you are single is to scroll
through Instagram and see everyone’s lovey dovey couples posts. YUCK. There’s just
no need to make yourself saltier than the Dead Sea about your situation
so keep the social media apps closed.
.
Just remember, you aren’t really spending this Valentine’s day alone. You are
spending it with your numero uno. Your ride or die. The only heart that is
always going to be there for you till the day you die. So cheer up buttercup, see
how amazing you are, and romanticize this Valentine's Day by celebrating you!
