Zombie Expedition Paintball Fun - Blogtober #10
Have you ever wondered if you would survive in a zombie apocalypse?
Well, at a paintball field in Assaria, Kansas, just
outside of Salina, you can find out if you have got what it takes in one of the most fun ways possible.
.
.
After driving down a long dirt road Brittany, Alexis, and I pulled into the parking
lot for Elite Sports home of the popular Zombie Expedition.
We walked up to the entrance to meet up with Ashley and Dinah
and then us five girls entered into base camp to collect our tickets.
.
.
We all got fast pass tickets which I honestly think were worth the
extra $5. We only had to stand in line for about 15 minutes while the non
fast pass line was at least 50 yards long and had to wait much much longer.
.
Before entering the zombie zone we got our picture taken for their
Facebook page and then loaded up onto a trailer and picked our weapon.
.
.
Once all 13 riders were loaded up and rules were recited by our onboard
zombie hunters in charge and reloaders our trailer was pulled into the official
zombie zone. As many of you I am sure know thanks to shows
like The Walking Dead, noise attracts zombies so once we were on the
move and ready to hunt strobe lights that were on the trailer and some dance music were cranked
up high like we were at a rave.
.
.
It wasn’t long before all that noise brought out the infected.
.
.
With each paintball gun mounted onto the trailer, aiming at the
zombies was definitely an easy task for someone of any age to do.
.
.
At the start we were each given 100 rounds of ammo to use (included with our ticket) which I thought
for sure would be more than enough for the whole course. However, after
firing shot after shot at the zombies (who were mostly kids decked out in gear) and
trying my best to save every soul on that trailer it wasn’t long before I had to
reload. And reload. And then reload again. And I STILL ran out of ammo before
the course was complete! So…if you want to actually be an effective zombie
hunter expect to need extra ammo and buy yourself some reload tickets. Each
100 extra rounds costs $10 a piece, but it was worth it to not have to sit
on the 20 minute zombie ride without anything to do. (You can also buy other
ammo bundles including 300 extra rounds for $20 and unlimited ammo
for $30 which I think is your best option.)
.
In the end this zombie expedition was nothing like I expected. I honestly
thought we were going to be on foot making our way through a course
instead of riding through it on a trailer, but that doesn’t mean it was any less fun.
The music and lights made it feel like a party and the guys working the trailer
were great hype men. By the end of the ride we were dancing, the zombies
were dancing, we were laughing, and were having a grand ole time.
.
.
So if you are able to buy
tickets to this frequently sold out event I highly recommend you take
the opportunity this spooky season!
