Foodie Friday: Parlour 1886 - Marion, KS

Today's Foodie Friday is all about a place tucked away inside of a stunningly

beautiful historic hotel in the small town of Marion, KS. This Foodie Friday

is also a special one because I was joined on this restaurant test by my

two cousins Shaina and Sheila and their friend Ashlee. It was a great girls night

out and I can't wait to do it again! Scroll on down to read more about Parlour 1886

This restaurant is located inside the stunning historic Elgin

hotel. You walk in through the large wooden doors and are

immediately greeted by a grand staircase and chandelier that

honestly reminded me a lot of the one from the movie Titanic.

(There were no shipwrecks happening on this night though!)

.

.

This place has a really fancy vibe, but when it comes to clothes you can choose to either really dress up or come in jeans! I saw both when I was there.

.

I met my cousins in the first booth who had already ordered a couple

of appetizers including the pickle chips with ranch AND bang bang

shrimp sauce (apparently this sauce is the bomb with these pickles. lol)

as well as some spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips.

.

.

Our waitress came over to the booth almost immediately after I sat

down to get my drink order and I decided to go with a virgin moscow

mule although they do have a full drink menu you can order from.

.

.

We sat and talked and took forrrrrever to order, but eventually we made

our selections which each came with bread (for the table) and a house salad.

.

I don’t know what kind of bread this was, but it was pretty good, especially dipped in the oil.

I am not a huge veggie person so all the extra toppings on this salad were lost on me, but the lettuce was nice and fresh!

For our main entrees my cousins Shaina and Sheila decided to share

the honey bourbon chicken. Typically this chicken comes served over

jasmine rice, but since neither are big fans of that they requested a

loaded baked potato (because is there really any other way? ;) ) instead.

.

.

I ended up choosing the prime rib dinner which came with my own baked potato and creamed corn.

This prime rib sliced like butter and had some amazing flavor. The baked potato was good and the creamed corn had a very…unique flavor to it. Not sure if I was a huge fan of that so luckily there wasn’t a whole lot on the plate. Lol

.

And then finally Ashlee chose the ribeye which

also came with a baked potato and creamed corn.

.

.

I of course spied on their menu a dessert called Death by Chocolate

and y’all know I wasn’t about to let the dinner end without trying

that! I mean if I could choose a way to go that would be it. Lol

.

This dessert was amazing and surprisingly not as rich as I expected it to be (which was a good thing seeing as how I ate most of it by myself lol). The cake itself was light and moist (sorry i don’t know how else to describe it lol) and the chocolate sauce and whipped cream were the perfect additions.

.

Our waitress heard I was trying to take pictures of all of our

food and so she brought out a dish of their famous carrot cake

for me to snap a picture of as well. Doesn’t it just look delicious?!

.

.

Here is a look at the dinner menu for the night we were there. Currently

due to a staff shortage they are only doing a limited menu that may

change from time to time so be sure to check their website

to see the latest edition.

.

.

After dinner my cousins took me on a little tour of the hotel which was

just absolutely stunning. They also said they thought the hotel might be

haunted so who knows….maybe you will be seeing an article on me staying the night here!

This being my first time at Parlour 1886 I had no idea what to expect

from this fancy restaurant inside the gorgeous historic Elgin in small

town Marion, KS, but y’all was I impressed. The inside of the restaurant

was not only beautiful (matching the rest of the hotel), but the service

here….my god. Our waitress was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Seriously one

of the best waitresses I have experienced in awhile. She was attentive, she

was funny, she was nice. Everything you could want and that’s why it was so

sad to hear she had just put in her notice! Guess that means you better

head to Parlour 1886 quick! Lol
