Foodie Friday: Highway 56 Family Restaurant - Galva, KS
I've driven past this restaurant more times than I can count and I always said
I wanted to eat there. However, it wasn't until I saw a banner promoting a
fried chicken buffet that I finally made it. I mean come on….it is fried chicken
after all. Anyway….you know the drill…scroll on down for more on

Justin and I walked into Highway 56 and Justin led the way to a booth
in the back where he usually sits when him and guys from work
come to this restaurant for breakfast.
.
Our waitress was at our booth fast taking our drink orders and we
told her we were both doing the buffet (of course).
.
The buffet itself had a salad bar (which we both skipped lol) and a main
buffet complete with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, salisbury
steak, green beans, potato soup, and then oddly some breakfast items
including french toast, ham and cheesy potatoes, and eggs.

Round 1:
.
Can you tell who’s plate is whose? Lol We both only made it through
one round of food, but I did go back up to the buffet when my eagle
eyes spotted some fresh chicken legs come out.
.
Once we were done with our main plates Justin went up and snagged
us a couple pieces of cake. Truth be told I am not entirely sure what
kind of cake it was. Maybe a strawberry lemon or a strawberry
shortcake, but regardless it was freakin’ delicious.
.
.
Even though we both did the buffet, here is a look at their menu.

Justin’s Rating: 7.5/10
Overall Justin thought the food was good although he did have
some mixed feelings on the chicken saying the first round of
chicken we ate had a LOT more flavor than the legs I brought back for us.

Even though we did the buffet our waitress was pretty good at checking
on us to make sure we had enough to drink and that we didn’t need
anything else. I do have to agree with Justin that the second batch
of chicken (the chicken legs) we tried were pretty bland compared to
the first batch, but y’all those mashed potatoes and gravy were
AMAH-ZING. I also really liked the interior of the restaurant and liked
how it leaned into the highway theme. Definitely would go back again!
