Foodie Friday: Airport Steakhouse - Hutchinson, Kansas

Truth be told I didn't even know Hutchinson had an airport let alone a

fancy steakhouse on the inside so shoutout to my friend who told me about

this place! Definitely was one of the more unique Foodie Friday experiences

so far so scroll on down to read more.

Walking out of my house to head for Hutchinson I turned and looked at

the darkening sky to the south and asked Justin if it was supposed to

rain. About 15 minutes into our drive I got my answer as we found ourselves stuck in

what could best be described as a Kansas hurricane! At one point we even had

to pull off to the side of the road and stop because it was raining so hard you

couldn't see the front end of my car!

.

Eventually though we caught a break in the storm and were able to make it to Hutch.

We parked in the parking lot and walked through the spitting rain (Justin complaining

about how cold the rain was the whole time and me struggling to get my camera

to work on my phone with the screen all wet) before walking through the sliding

glass airport doors. The second we stepped through the doors I could smell the

food and we followed it down a little hallway on our right until we found ourselves

in front of a hostess stand. Looking at the fancy interior and the way the people inside

were dressed we both turned and looked at each other…Justin in cargo shorts and a t-shirt

and me in jeans and a babydoll tee...immediately feeling underdressed

for the place. However, as the hostess led us back to our little table by the window

we saw others dressed down and felt a little better about our attire.

.

A waitress was at our table quickly collecting our drink orders and then

after giving us a little time to peruse their menu was back to get our dinner

orders. (No appetizers for tonight since I am a picky eater and didn't

like any of their options. Lol)

.

Not long after we ordered she brought out a basket of rolls and our

salads both included with our dinners.

.

Our salads were the same except I got ranch and Justin got honey mustard.

.

I actually thought the salad was a good solid salad even though I gave

most of it away to Justin (I'm not a veggie fan so he got all my

tomatoes, onion, and cucumber. Lol) I also really liked what I assume

to be a homemade crouton that was part of the salad as well.

.

Not long after finishing our salads our main dishes arrived.

.

Justin got the surf and turf with a sweet potato.

.

.

And I got the 8oz garlic crusted filet (anyone else think it looks a lil bit like a heart?)

with a side of whipped mashed potatoes.

.

.

I wasn't able to finish all my food because I knew I had to save room

for some dessert of course!

.

I decided to break away from the chocolate desserts for once and

went with this peach cobbler a la mode. It was quite a bit for

one person to eat, but I did it. Lol

.

I do wish that there had be a little more of the crunchy exterior and it could have maybe used a little more cinnamon, but those are nit picky things. This really was pretty dang good.

.

.

Here’s a look at the menu:

.

Justin's Rating: 8.5/10

"Food was good. Probably would've been a 9, but my steak was

cooked a little more than I wanted. More of a medium than medium

rare but still good. I liked the atmosphere too. Bit pricey though. Imagine

buying booze there! Haha! Also I don’t know what honey mustard salad

dressing they used, but it tasted like there was a lot of vinegar in

it which I'm not a huge fan of lol"

.

Airport Steakhouse Stats:

Service: 8/10

Food: 8/10

Cleanliness/Decor: 10/10

Price: $$$

Overall Rating: 8.7/10

.

The inside of the restaurant of course has some airplane decor, but is more

focused on creating a formal/fancy feeling dining experience with their low

light interior, real candles on the table, and dark wood and stone accents

making it a great place for date night! The service was also good. Never

once did we feel like we were waiting forever on our waitress and we even

had a manager (I think it was a manager lol) come over to our table and see how we

were liking everything. The food was on the pricier side, but absolutely delicious.

The steaks had a lot of flavor, my mashed potatoes were fire, and the salad and

rolls were a great start (wish we would have gotten more than 2 rolls though lol). Aside

from the steaks not being cooked quite how we asked them to be and Justin’s

vinegar-y honey mustard dressing I have zero complaints! Definitely would go back again!
