Foodie Friday: Russell's Restaurant - Salina, Kansas

This week the Foodie Friday restaurant choices were pretty limited since

work and meetings meant I needed a place that closed after 8pm (since when do

restaurants close so early?). The thing that really sold me on this restaurant though

was the homemade pie (of course) and so to Russell's we went!

Scroll on down to see how it went!

We walked into the restaurant and then sat down on a bench staring at these

big black and white piggies while we waited to be seated.

.

.

Eventually a waitress came over and brought us to our booth right inside the

door. She took our drink orders immediately and then gave us some

time to look over their huge menu.

.

I struggled with picking what I wanted even after having narrowed it down to

fried chicken, chicken fried chicken, and biscuits and gravy. In the end it

was the biscuits and gravy that won out (half order) with a side of hashbrowns.

.

.

Justin ended up going with the BLT and a side of onion rings.

.

.

After the main dishes I HAD to get a slice of pie. I'm gonna be totally honest with

y'all...I'm not sure what all their options are because I immediately replied with

chocolate cream when the waitress asked me.

Here's a look at their menu:

.

Justin's Rating: 6/10

Justin said his BLT sandwich was good and the onion rings were okay. In the end this

restaurant was just ok and certainly nothing special.

Russell's Restaurant Final Stats:

Service : 6/10

Food: 6/10

Cleanliness/Decor: 6/10

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 6/10

In the end this dining experience turned out to be pretty meh. Our waitress was suuuper

nice, but pretty MIA after our food came out and I had to wait forever to get a slice of

pie from another waitress and then had to wait even more for a to go box for the half

of the pie I didn't eat. In total our whole dining experience lasted almost 3 hours just

because we had to wait so long on a waitress to come by our table. Also, the food

left a lot to be desired with dry biscuits and unevenly cooked onion rings. I would go

back for the pie, but at this point that is about it.
