Foodie Friday: Ike's Place Bar & Grill - Abilene, Kansas

After driving to Abilene for a wedding dress fitting....well a dress fitting for a dress

I am wearing in my friend's wedding. lol The day I get married will probably be the

same day hell freezes over! I mean just knowing the amount of "I told you so's" I'd have

to hear is enough to make me want to not do it. Sorry dad. lol But anyway...not the point.

Since I don't find myself in Abilene all that often I figured I needed to take advantage of the

opportunity and try out a new Foodie Friday place! So scroll on down to see if Ike's Place was worth a stop!

I walked in through the doors of Ike's Place and looked at what appeared to

be a divided space. One side for the bar complete with colored lighting and TVs and the

other side for the grill and family dining. I stood at the hostess stand waiting to be seated

for a little while before I was noticed, but the host was very nice and once he saw me

he got me to a booth on the grill side quickly where I began to look over the menu.

.

For an appetizer I decided to put in an order of the cowboy nachos with

the obvious choice of fries over tortilla chips.

Then, after a lot of back and forth with myself, I finally landed on the BBQ burger with a side of mashed potatoes for my main lunch.

Cleanliness/Décor: 4/5

Price: $$

Overall Rating: 4.2/5

Outside the restaurant looks like a pretty standard place however the inside of the restaurant

is a lot more updated than I was expecting and provides a fun bar space

on one side (perfect for game days) and a larger dining space on the other side that felt comfortable and like

you were dining at home. Even though I had to wait a little while to get seated the host and

my waitress were both EXTREMELY nice and I felt really well taken care of the entire time

I was there. The food came out fairly quickly and while not the best burger I have ever had

it certainly was delicious. Oh and those cowboy nachos?! Shoooo-weee were

those good....and spicy. I was NOT expecting that kind of a kick with them, but y'all those

jalapeños they used on mine were not messing around! I did have to take the food rating

down just a little bit though because I was not a fan of my mashed potatoes at all and

y'all know you don't mess with my potatoes. Lol In the end I would definitely return to eat here

especially for those cowboy nachos.
